"Tortoise in a half-shell..."

A few weeks ago Brian and I were asked by a family in our ward if we wouldn't mind tortoise-sitting for them while they were out of town for a few days; of course we would never DREAM of turning down a chance to tortoise-sit! We were pretty much, incredibly psyched out of our minds.
Meet Tommy(L) and Shelly(R) --appropriately named, don't you think?! Tommy and Shelly are African Salcata Tortoises that will grow to be approximately 150 lbs! So cool, huh? The guy who bought them did so with the plans of his future grandchildren being able to ride them -- his kids are currently 9 and 5:) My sister and I tortoise-sat for this same family several summers ago and the tortoises were literally the size of your palm. Ah, how they grow so fast:)
Although Brian and I only got to feed the little friends a couple of times, we definitely felt a bond form:)

Look at you two! Naturally you're going to be good parents after this experience! :)

Brian, what a resemblence. You look just like the Gumpmister. Scary. By the way, the camera that you used to take these pictures has a huge smudge on the lens. Just thought you would like to know,
