Its been so long

since I last blogged anything that actually counts as a post, I can't even remember what order life has happened in since then. Did that make sense? Maybe I'm trying to prep anyone reading this for a fragmented and potentially confusing post....I'll do my best.

We ended June with a week-long trip to Monterey with my family at the family beach house. The beach house was always a favorite of mine growing up, so it was super exciting to be able to take Charlie there. Brian was only able to stay for a few days before heading back to work, but we made those days count! Aside from yummy food, games, lots of visiting, and movies, we were able to take Charlie to a park that I grew up going to, as well as our favorite little ice cream shop. It was at the ice cream shop that Charlie was spoiled beyond his wildest dreams - Grandpa loaded "Henry the Horse" with quarters enabling him to ride off into the sunset while eating Grandma and Amy's ice cream. Too cute. Too fun:)


Following Monterey, we met up with Brian and headed to Utah for a week with his family. We were there for the fourth and had a blast: they don't do anything for the fourth down here aside from going to the beach, so it was great to see parades and festivals like we both grew up with. Charlie didn't really understand what was going on, but he looked adorable and that's what counts, right?

Charlie had many "firsts" on this trip to Utah including his first day on a boat, his first time in a lake, his first camping trip, catching his first fish, his first front tooth (making for a total of three), his first wagon ride, his first time meeting cousin Kiley, his first pool party, and his first time on a riding lawn mower. It was a big trip!


All in all, we had a fabulous time filled with the best kind of fun -- you know, the kind where you dread going back to real life and would give anything to be able to play a little bit longer -- that kind of fun. Thank you to all of our family who made such a wonderful 2 weeks possible!

In current news, our boy turns 1 in ten days! Can you even believe it? I can't either -- this year has gone by much too quickly, (but more on that later). For now, rest assured that a fantastically fun birthday party is in the works - it will involve friends, family, pinwheels, bubbles, tunnels, balloons, music, cupcakes, smiles, and most importantly, magical memories [atleast for mom and dad, we'll cross our fingers that Charlie's long term memory kicks in by then:)]
